Renogen

This treatment applies to the following species:
Manufacturer: Novartis (Aqua Health)

For Veterinary Use Only

A sterile diluent (0.9% Sodium Chloride) for the resuspension of lyophilized culture of the live microorganism Arthrobacter sp. nov., sharing common antigenic determinants with Renibacterium salmoninarum. The final formulation of ready-to-use RENOGEN is a suspension of live microorganism in diluent.

Use

As an aid in the prevention of Bacterial Kidney Disease caused by Renibacterium salmoninarum in healthy salmonids.

Vaccination Program

This vaccine has been shown to be safe and effective when administered by intraperitoneal injection to salmonids 10 grams or larger. Due to the relationship between water temperature and onset of immunity, it is recommended that a period of 400 degree days (number of days multiplied by the mean water temperature for each day in °C during period) is allowed before exposure to disease occurs.

Dose And Administration

To use, fish are anaesthetized until immobilized and are then given 0.1 mL of the resuspended vaccine from the diluent bag intraperitoneally one fin length ahead of the pelvic fins. See insert for complete directions.

Precautions

1. Do not vaccinate fish within 60 days of slaughter.

2. Vaccinate healthy fish only.

3. Use entire contents within 4 hours of resuspension. Shake well before using. Protect from light. Do not freeze.

4. It is recommended that antimicrobial drugs not be administered 14 days before or after vaccination. It is recommended that oxytetracycline not be administered 6 weeks before or after vaccination.

5. If accidental injection of the operator occurs, the operator should discontinue activity and seek medical advice immediately.
